Spring has finally arrived and imaging conversions continue to bloom and thrive at IDI. In the past month we have completed projects for Hillside Public Library newspapers from microfilm and a DigiFind-It site, Carteret hard copy newspapers, Long Branch newspaper microfilm rolls, and Sanibel Island newspapers.

We have also digitized alumni files for a university in New Jersey and started a 300,000 page Hebrew book conversion and a large historical record conversion for a prestigious club in New York City. IDI is also completing large Museum conversions in California on site at USC and in San Francisco and will be on site at a high Profile Museum in Philadelphia as well as a college in Pennsylvania.

Come meet with IDI and DMM representatives at the NJLA conference in Atlantic City April 25th and 26th booth 115. We will be demonstrating our popular DigiFind-It web portal and discussing Digital Media Memory Fund Raising sessions. May 10 we will be hosting the Northern NJ Chapter of ARMA monthly meeting at the IDI NJ location which will include a presentation, facility tour and buffet style dinner.

Mark your calendars for May 17th 10:00am-1:00pm as we are starting up the well attended Library and Historical Society imaging seminars at IDI which will feature a discussion on Grant Writing for Libraries and Historical Societies by John R. Bruno CEO and founder of Bruno Associates. Bruno Associates is one of the leading Grant and Public Relations Agencies in New Jersey. Book your reservation starting today.

Happy New Year!

2016 is now history and since we are an organization that preserves history, the past years events and memories have been fully archived and we are geared up for an exciting start to 2017.

IDI now offers full METS/ALTO services for publications. (see here) We have obtained a platform for hosting newspapers, magazines, journals, etc. which provides searching by keywords, by article, by titles or any combination. We will also be adding the METS/ALTO functionality to our popular Digi-Find-It web portal.

We are in the final test stage for integrating face recognition software for Digi-Find-It websites that contain many human photographs. With this technology we are able to automatically index all the photos of individuals in the database once we identify these people in any one photo. After indexing is complete, all photos for a person on the Digi-Find-it site can be quickly and easily searched and retrieved.

2017 will kick off with a Union County Township conversion of financial records. We also will soon be working on an alumni conversion for a prestigious New Jersey University. We just completed an on-site project at the University of Illinois for a publication company. Later this month will be starting another 2 month project at a Chicago Library as well as continuing on a collection for the Garfinkel Archive in Massachusetts.

December is a time to remember how important family and friends are and a time to reflect back on the good times and challenging times that make us who we are. IDI wishes all our customers vendors and friends a happy healthy and memorable holiday season.

A historic organization in Pennsylvania has contracted IDI to convert their history from thousands of rolls of 35mm and 16mm microfilm as well as thousands of photos and negatives. These will also be made available on our popular Digi-fInd-It web hosting platform.

IDI has just purchased its fourth Book2Net Ultra 7 scanner which utilizes a 71 Megapixel camera and will be used in Los Angeles for a major Museum conversion. We also will be completing a B’nai B’rith bound newspaper collection conversion with a Book 2 Net scanner for a collaborated NYU and NYPL project.

In November IDI completed a high profile almost 70,000 photo album collection that will also utilize the Digi-Find-it platform for searching and matching photos to people places and events.

Innovative News

November arrived quickly and the election madness will finally come to an end and we all look forward to Thanksgiving gatherings with family and friends.

The IDI team is especially looking forward to the Holiday break as November and December will be even more busy than usual for IDI. We have started a 3 million image HR project that must be completed this year from paper and microfiche as well as a high profile photo album project.

American Bible Society moved from NYC to Philadelphia last year and IDI scanned over 1 million pages of business records so the move was paperless. We are now digitizing ABS’s historical records including annual reports and photos.

We have completed the Elizabeth Public Library Daily Journal Newspaper Project (A NJ Historical Commission Grant) which included content from January 1871-August 1915 from microfilm and we have created a Digi-Find-it web portal. On November 3rd the library hosted a successful reception and background introduction on the Elizabeth Daily Journal presented by Aimee Fernandez-Puente who was so excited for the launch of the web portal for researching and keyword searching the newspaper.

IDI will now be traveling back to Chicago in November for the next 4 months for 3 Museum projects for a major publisher. We are also digitizing hundreds of reel to reel audio tapes for a special collection from a special Museum collection in Massachusetts.

The elections are coming and the Polls are changing daily. IDI appropriately is now in the process of imaging the archives for the Gallup Organization. The Archives include Press Releases, Public Opinion Studies, Research, and newspaper clippings. IDI has also created a Digi-Find-It Web Portal for the Gallup Research Department. We will be packing and shipping a portion of the archives to the George Gallup Museum at the University of Illinois.

in October IDI will complete a 250,000 image conversion of criminal case files for a trial attorney in South Jersey. The attorneys staff will also utilize IDI’s Popular Web search Portal for retrieving and key word searching the digital files.

We are in the final phase of a large library conversion at the University of California Santa Barbara for a major publisher. IDI is capturing the collection with two Book2Net scanners that utilize 71 megapixel cameras and exceed FADGI 3 compliance. The University was so impressed with the scanner and its quality output they purchased one of our scanners.

School has started footballs are in the air and IDI is preparing to tackle what is lining up to be a very busy last 4 months of the year.

We have started a project for the Elizabeth Public Library digitizing 112 rolls of microfilm from the Elizabeth Daily Journal. The newspapers will be hosted on our popular DigiFind-It Web platform.

IDI has also started a 600 roll microfilm project in conjunction with a New York University and we will be digitizing and hosting the Sayreville High School yearbooks for the Sayreville Public Library.

IDI recently completed digitizing an impressive book collection for the Maryland State Law Library. The collection is housed in Annapolis, Maryland.

Over in the UK IDI has contracted (for a minimum of 1 year) to manage a file room facility for a major Pharmaceutical Company. Next month we will also be completing a 2 plus year project at the British Library in London including over 2 million pages of the first major text-searchable online archive of pre-20th century Arabic printed books.

IDI has added video clippings to our list of services as described below:

Historical Video and Audio Clippings

Video Clipping Service – Is a way to find and “clip” information about any subject matter, or a company’s, products, people or competitors. Today’s technology allows for continuous searching throughout the day 24/7/365 to find new mentions of your key words in the TV news sources you specify.

IDI utilizes the latest technologies to digitally convert historic content which exists on VHS, Hi8, Mini DVs, Beta Max, 8mm and 16mm film and audio cassettes, and tag the content. The tagging process allows researchers, marketing departments, or an organization to quickly access desired content across an entire audio/video collection and pinpoint exactly what they are looking for in a matter of seconds.

Digital Memory Media has scheduled 14 fundraising sessions in the Fall and we have the capacity to book many more as we have a number of highly qualified employees to staff the sessions. Our Personal Portals; web sites for individuals memories have been a big success (see a sample personal portal here) which is a very affordable way to organize, share and view personal memories on a PC smart phone or TV anywhere any time.

We will be launching Gift Certificates as a perfect holiday gift in the Fall as well as continuing our popular imaging seminar and facility tour. Be on the lookout for invitations for our September 28th session book early to reserve your seat.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It’s been a hot one and IDI continues to expand while working through the heat.

We have recently completed a very successful 4 month 1 million image clinical document conversion for a large West Coast Bio-Tech company as well as a 250,000 business record image conversion for a major Publishing Company in New Jersey.

We have also found a niche with cemetery records including large maps. We completed projects for a large Cemetery in Queens and are working on many more through New Jersey historical societies. IDI owns many large format scanners for these projects.

In the libraries this month we imaged and uploaded City Directories to the DigiFind-it Portal for Maplewood Library and we are currently scanning the Matawan High School Yearbooks.

Digital Memory Media has already scheduled 10 Fund Raising sessions in the Fall and we have capacity to book many more as we have a number of highly qualified employees to staff the sessions.
