Imaging Innovations from IDI, July 2018

July 2018

I want to thank you all who stopped by to visit our booth at the NJLA show in Atlantic City.  We received very positive feedback on IDI’s out of copyright content, Open Source NJ Historical Portal and we will be visiting libraries starting in July to show how it can be made accessible.

American Bible Society will have new attraction that will make its home on Independence Mall in Philadelphia. Projected to open in 2020, the Faith & Liberty Discovery Center will invite people from all backgrounds to embark on an immersive experience to learn about the Bible’s influence on American history and culture.

The goal, according to American Bible Society President and CEO Roy Peterson, is to ignite curiosity and encourage visitors to explore questions such as, “How did the Bible influence the people who shaped our nation”.

IDI has digitized millions of documents for the American Bible and we sponsored a Table at the Faith and Football Event Jan 11th in Philadelphia. At the event Shane Simon IDI’s Digi-Find-it Manager (pictured above) enjoyed a meet and greet photo session with the personable winning Super bowl Head Coach Doug Pederson.

In June we opened a new 8,000 square foot facility in Connecticut. We received a large contract from a well known publisher for digital microfilm preservation scanning as well as duplicating.  The facility will expedite growth in the New England region for both IDI’s scanning and Digital Memory Media Services.

Be sure to call early for reservations for the IDI October 17th Seminar at our East Brunswick, NJ Headquarters which will feature a special guest from the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts. The session will feature a tour of our facility, lunch and drawings for prizes.

May 2018

Innovative News

In May IDI began scanning accounts payable records for a large construction company which includes remotely uploading images and keyed metadata into their Accounting System. Each week IDI picks up active accounts and payable records for conversion. IDI also picked up 100 boxes of high profile historical content from a prestigious East Coast University. A NJ private high school contracted IDI to digitize student records, yearbooks and other historical content as well as IDI’s Docubase Cloud record management system for the student records. They will be utilizing IDI’s Digi-Find-It portal for searching the schools historical content as well.

In our 18 year history, IDI has scanned over a million pages of yearbooks and next week we will begin digitizing yearbooks for the East Orange Library. We have started on an 800,000 paper scanning project for a major NYC Union.

IDI will be exhibiting during the NJLA conference in Atlantic City May 31-Jun 1 and we will be demonstrating a new Digi-Find-it web site housing out of copyright NJ historical content from 1922 all the way back to the early 1800’s. Be sure to stop by to say hello (booth 510) and see our exciting new product.

IDI will be hosting an informative seminar at our facility in East Brunswick on October 17th, 2018 and we are very proud to announce that we will have a guest speaker with us from the Conservation Center for Art and Historical Artifacts. Also, we will be giving tours of our 8,500 sq. ft. facility including a demonstration on the Kirtas (robotic book scanner). There will also be lunch and some giveaways. Stay tuned for invitations.

We want to thank all the libraries that have partnered with IDI on the Digital Memory Fund raising programs the last 6 years. We have enjoyed doing the sessions and I hope the funds raised were beneficial. In 2018 we will be scheduling only a few designated library sessions as I believe a 1 year program hiatus will result in an increase in fund revenues in 2019.

IDI looks forward to 2018 being another year of travel exciting new projects and continued growth.

In February an IDI team of nine visited India on a 2 week tour to inspect our image processing centers and to see all the good work being put forth by our contributions to improve women’s rights and provide education to impoverished tribes. There will be a section added to our web site in May with additional information and photos.

2018 began with a long term project in a high profile Louisiana Museum, 3 new publishing projects in the UK, a 4 million image conversion of books to digital image in our East Brunswick headquarters and a 400,000 page image conversion for a high profile Society in NYC.

We are happy to be back at the American Antiquarian Society in Massachusetts for a large long term periodical conversion. Also we have partnered with a prestigious private school on Long Island to digitize all of their historical archives and student records.

November 2017
Innovative News

IDI in November would like to give thanks to our customers, employees and partners. IDI is fortunate and honored to partner with organizations that give back to the community, support education and work for women’s rights. Making collections accessible to the world in a digital format is our mission while we also enjoy doing our part to make the world a better place. In the first quarter our website will be updated with detailed information.

In January IDI will be making a major enhancement to our popular and affordable Web Portal Digi-Find-It. The portal currently works with all the major browsers but works most effectively with Internet Explorer. The new upgrade will allow Digi-Find-It to be fully functional with Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Searches will be faster and there will be a number of new features. Upgrades will begin in January and there will be no disruption in service.

In November we have set up on location to digitize a very high profile historical collection for a pharmaceutical company. We are also heading back to Massachusetts to an American History Museum for a 6 month project.

October 2017
Innovative News

Halloween is coming and IDI enters the 4th quarter with a collection of new treats while trying to avoid any of the seasonal tricks. We recently secured a major pharmaceutical document conversion and we will be setting up in a New England museum for a large periodical project. We also have contracted for a one year high profile project located in a museum in the Southeast US to begin in January.

In October IDI created a Digi-Find-It Portal to host the Hoboken Library historical files. We also will be beginning a newspaper and city directory conversion from microfilm for the Belleville Library as well as a similar microfilm project for the Montclair Library and Historical Society. Our paper document conversions continue to grow including a conversion of medical files for a retired Allergist, procurement files for a pharmaceutical company, and an on location conversion of financial files for an automotive company in Michigan.

Digital Memory Media had successful fundraisers at the Woodbridge Library and the Meriden, Connecticut Historical Society and in October we will be converting a large amount of DAT tapes for a major organization.

September 2017
Innovative News

Innovative Document Imaging sends its prayers and wishes to all the residents of Texas and Florida who have suffered in the recent Hurricanes. I want to thank all the IDI employees who have generously contributed to the relief effort.

IDI is on the road again, and we have set up in an Arkansas Museum for a 4 month project and we will also be traveling to Michigan for a 500,000 image document conversion for the automotive industry. In early September we completed a special record indexing project for a Pharmaceutical Company in Southern California and finalized a Digi-Find-It site of historic periodicals for a major US Association to research and sell.

In early 2017 we completed a 5 year run of high profile imaging projects at the British Library. We have recently secured an IDI facility in London for multiple long term library/museum projects. We will be moving and setting up our scanners at the new office where we will begin major imaging projects for prestigious UK universities and museums.

The Fall Library Fund Raising Sessions started up this past weekend with two successful fundraisers. We have another 9 sessions remaining. See the Fall schedule below.
