Imaging Innovations from IDI and DMM, April 2016

Innovative News

In April IDI completed digitizing a high profile Shakespeare Collection. The Shakespeare in Performance is an essential resource for all scholars of Shakespearean drama, featuring rare and unique prompt books from the world-famous Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC.
The prompt books tell the stories of key performances as they were performed in theatres throughout Great Britain, the United States and further afield, between the seventeenth and twentieth centuries. In a mixture of handwritten manuscripts and printed typescripts, often interspersed with personal notes, sketches, and cues for lighting and music, this resource takes users behind the scenes to shine a light on how the Bard’s timeless works have been interpreted by theatre companies, actors and directors across the centuries. Researchers can follow how each production unfolded, see what amendments were made to the lines and stage management over the years as audiences and social culture changed, and explore the influences and connections between different productions of the same play.  The resource also contains carefully curated case studies built around 17 selected performances, using important supporting material such as photographs, costume designs and music scores to highlight key aspects of each production.
IDI also started another large 700,000 page Pharmaceutical conversion in Massachusetts.  In February and in March IDI shredded 3,800 boxes of files we scanned for a Pharmaceutical Co. from September to December.  IDI is proud of all our employees who completed this enormous task which required a double shift and operating 7 days a week.
The IDI Library and Historical Society Seminar planned for April 21stincludes a tour of the new IDI facility still has a few openings.  Please call for your reservation.  We are serving lunch and there will be a drawing for a laptop PC.
IDI has used Konica Minolta book scanners for sale including Scan Divas, PS7000c’s, PS5000’s and PS7000MKII’s. These units are in excellent condition and come with PCs and software. These units are perfect for scanning books or other bound publications and for inter-library loans.   IDI is a Konica Minolta re-seller and we have maintained the units very well and will provide training and warranties with the units.  Please call for pricing.
IDI’s Digital Memory Media completed a large conversion of 450 VHS videos for the FBI in March and we kicked off the Spring Fund Raising events in March and we have the following sessions scheduled. IDI can
run 3 sessions simultaneously on a Saturday. Please call to reserve an event for your Library Historical Society or Religious Organization. Dates are filling up fast.
Digital Media Memory now offers free pick-up and delivery in the Metropolitan area for orders exceeding $500.  IDI will also send an experienced technician or marketing rep to answer questions, consult and write-up the orders.

Our Fall 2015 library, historical society, museum seminar and IDI tour was a huge success and we have scheduled April 21 for the next seminar. Invites will go out shortly, and we will be also scheduling a session in the Fall of this year.

IDI wants to thank all of our guests for taking the time to stop in and tour our new facility. The facility received excellent reviews and a good time was had by all.

In February IDI contracted and launched our Popular Digi Find -It Portal for 5 libraries including: Sanibel Island, FL, Summit, Westfield, Cranford and Plainfield as well as a New England financial service organization.

Digi-Find-It is Innovative Document Imaging LLC’s front-end presentation module. After digitizing files and creating PDF files, the standard way to present the files is through a file folder structure. Searching the PDF files in this fashion can be difficult and time consuming. A user must know exactly where to locate the information among a large volume of files.

“Digi-Find It” is a web-based interface for internal network or world- wide web that allows users to search across volumes of PDF text searchable digital files in seconds. Currently this product has seen its success in many organizations and makes searching PDF digitized archives fast and easy. Digi-Find It has an attractive customized front end and is very affordable.

IDI has completed scanning a popular Medicine Historic Collection in Early America for Adam Mathews Publishing at the Philadelphia Library Co. This collection included books trade cards, and manuscripts. We are now beginning a Migration project in the same space with the Pennsylvania Historical Society.

Cranbury Historical Society has contracted IDI to digitize Cranbury township related photos and 16mm video reels with monies from a matching grant they recently were awarded.

Innovative News

Warm weather is finally here and activity is really heating up at IDI. We currently have a large medical conversion in house for a large Local Union and we began digitizing 1,200 lab notebooks on site for a large Pharmaceutical Company in New England.

We have started imaging Maplewood Memorial Public Library’s real estate files which will be available and searchable on the Digi-Find-It portal. Also we have completed the scanning of yearbooks for the Red Bank Public Library.

In May new Digi-Find-It sites include the Summit Public Library newspapers, a New England Financial Co., Plainfield Public Library and Cranbury Public Library.

IDI thanks all our customers and new prospects who stopped by our booth at the New Jersey Library Association Conference to say hello or inquire about new projects.

IDI’s Digital Media Memory is off to a strong start in 2015. In April DMM delivered the first shipment of a 10,000 slide conversion for the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Fund Raising events at Lake Hopatcong Historical Society, Tuckerton, Parsippany, Neptune, Chester and Cliffside Park Libraries have been very successful.

IDI is proud of JAX the East Brunswick resident singer who is in the American Idol finals this week and we wish her the best of luck. JAX’s dad had family videos converted to DVD at DMM last month as promos for the popular show.
