Innovative News
May has arrived and IDI has made our big swing into spring. In April IDI completed a 500,000-image collection on site for a California University as well as a 600,000-image collection in New York City. In May IDI will be completing a project for South Plainfield Public Library including town records and local newspapers from both hard copy and microfilm. We are also scanning Real Estate files for The Millburn Historical Society and Ledger Record books for the City of Orange. Davidson College and Woodbridge TV have recently contracted IDI’s Digital Memory Media division to digitize audio and video collections.
The images from both the Millburn Historical Society and the South Plainfield Public Library will be hosted and accessible from our popular Digi-Find-It Web Portals. Both the NJ State Library and Newark Public Library Web Sites provide links to many of the NJ Library DigiFind-IT portals that are open to the World Wide Web. Click the link from the Newark Public Library web page: Newark Library.
In May of 2018 IDI opened up a 7,500 square foot facility in Connecticut where we house and distribute microfilm subscriptions for one of the world’s largest publishing companies. IDI also offers high quality microfilm and microfiche mastering and duplication services. Visit IDI’s E-beam web site: E-Beam Imaging.
Our booth assignment for The New Jersey Library Association Conference being held at Harrah’s Atlantic City form May 29-31 is Booth 102. Stop by to say hello, discuss our new offerings and for your chance to win a prize!

April 2019
Innovative News
IDI has made it past the April fools pranks and we have started new imaging projects including: South Plainfield Public Library’s local newspapers including town records to digitize from both microfilm and hard copy. The Library also opted for our popular Digi-Find-It web Portal for quick and easy access to the images.
Tax day April 15th is approaching and we recently completed a scanning project for a local tax accountant to free up office space, eliminate misfiles and make the documents easily accessible. We also completed the digitization of hundreds of back issues for a popular Dance Magazine for a large publisher. We have picked up historic ledger books for a New York hospital dating back to the early 1900’s that require special handling while scanning, plus soon we will be imaging the hospital’s medical school’s student records.
We want to send a big thank you to the New York StateAssociation of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) for their hospitality on March 11th where IDI was invited to speak at the Mohonk Mountain House about our imaging solutions for private schools. (photo above) The conference was a real success and we look forward to working with the many private schools that expressed interest in digitizing and preserving their valuable legacies.

IDI’s 2018 annual holiday party

January 2019

Innovative News
Welcome to 2019 as IDI begins our 19th year in business. As we kick off the New Year we look forward to working on exciting new digital projects both in the US and Europe.
In the first quarter of 2019 we will continue to scan for a University in Southern California including two projects with over 300,000 images of periodicals and manuscripts. We also will kick off a 4.5 million image microfilm/fiche project for a Labor Union at our NJ facility. Last week we set up to digitize a prestigious collection at a National Museum in Pennsylvania.
The Atlantic Highlands Historical Society has contracted IDI to digitize historic newspapers and have the PDF images accessible and key word searchable utilizing our popular Digi-Find-it Portal.
On Jan 1st, 2019 published works from the year 1923 became free for all to use and build on without permissions or fees that copyrights protected. Literary works by famous authors such as Robert Frost will be free to use and build on without permissions or fees. This is because in 1998 Congress hit a 2 decade pause button and extended copyright terms for 20 years given works published between 1923 and 1977 and expanded term of 95 years. Now each year going forward one additional year will be free of copyright. In 2020 works under copyright protection from 1924 works will be freed up.
IDI’s open access NJ history site launched in late 2018 has been a great success NJ Historical Portal. The site currently receives 800 hits per month and was only recently launched in October. We will continue to add new content as well as historical information from the year 1924 in 2020.

September is here footballs are in the air and IDI is off to sunny California once again for a 3 month imaging project for a University library. We are also starting 2 New York City archive book and newspaper projects and a book scanning project which includes content from a New Jersey State University.
Two learning centers have been dedicated in Myron Tannenbaum’s name in India. Myron Tannenbaum was a founding member of Innovative Document Imaging who was awarded 10 Health Care Patents for medical research. The Schools are both situated in the western part of India in the State of Gujarat. One of the learning centers is in the tribal village of Muvaliya and the other tribal village is situated in Jhalod. The learning centers help educate children of migrant laborers and very poor tribal families.
IDI has set up 2 new Digi-Find-it web portals one for the NYU City Record papers and one for the Secaucus Public Library Home News newspapers and photos.
Be sure to call early for reservations for the IDI October 17th Seminar at our East Brunswick NJ Headquarters. The session will feature a tour of our facility Lunch and drawings as well as a special guest speaker from the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts. Visit them here: https://ccaha.org/.
Conservation is the preservation, repair, and prevention of deterioration of archaeological, historical, and cultural artifacts and is vital for libraries and archives alike. We look forward to seeing you at IDI October 17th.

We want to thank all the libraries that have partnered with IDI on the Digital Memory Fund raising programs the last 6 years. We have enjoyed doing the sessions and I hope the funds raised were beneficial. In 2018 we will be scheduling only a few designated library sessions as I believe a 1 year program hiatus will result in an increase in fund revenues in 2019.
Thank you for your business.

Marty
