Innovative Solutions: Archive Preservation

The Innovative Document Imaging library services team is busy this month. In the next few days, IDI will deliver textsearchable digital images of more than 140 years of local newspapers from Bernardsville, NJ to the Bernardsville Public LIbrary. At the end of March, IDI will begin the digitization of historic newspapers, high school yearbooks and a 4,000 photo archive for the Glen Ridge Public LIbrary. Glen Ridge, which celebrated its 100th anniversary last month, was honored with a large gift to mark the occasion, a portion of which will fund the digitization project.

Innovative Spotlight: Film & Video

IDI recently added a Sniper high speed digital scanner and 2 additional Epson photo scanners to its lineup. The Sniper creates high definition video from 8mm or Super 8mm film. Two new servers were brought online to handle increased data demands.

IDI Digital Memory Media

IDI kicked off its 2012 Digital Memory Media sessions with a visit to the North Brunswick Public Library. The event was a smashing success. Twenty-two library patrons submitted orders. Patrons were delighted to have their treasured collections digitized for posterity and the Library was happy to provide a public service that benefits everyone involved.
