Innovative Spotlight: Library Partnerships

pic7_7Today’s public libraries are hard pressed to increase patron use and meet ever tightening budget constraints. That’s why New Jersey public libraries are partnering to share the cost of digitizing local newspapers, city directories and yearbooks. “Digitization is an affordable way to make these collections readily available to patrons,” notes Innovative Document Imaging president, Marty Tannenbaum. “Digitization also adds search capabilities, making the collections far more valuable to researchers,” says Tannenbaum.

Innovative Update

As reported in previous newsletters, Innovative Document Imaging had a busy 2011 and 2012 looked to be even busier. Here are some of the things currently on tap:

IDI is presently digitizing an average of 4,100 books per month.

IDI is currently operating 7 robotic book scanners and 12 upright book scanners.

IDI is managing 8 offsite bound book scanning projects simultaneously, with 4 at major pharmaceutical companies and 4 in the publishing industry.

IDI is currently in the process of updating our website to include new videos about IDI services, Digital Memory Media Library Fundraising and Digital Memory Media Patron Services.
